At the same time, however, Ankara has continued to stress the necessity of creating a DAESH-free safe zone in northern Syria even just before the Russian air assault began in Syria on September 30, 2015.
The principle reason behind this failure was the unwillingness of the Russian-Iranian-Damascene axis to stop its offensive against the opposition and the disinclination these governments showed to diplomatic efforts to find a lasting solution to the crisis.
On the contrary the recent developments especially the Russian military involvement in support of the Assad regime will only escalate the gravity of the situation.
PKK leadership has two new block-partners in this new war: on the one hand, the Russians, the Iranians and the Assad regime through the PKK’s Syrian branch, the PYD, and, on the other, the military support of the US who saw the PYD as a substitute power for its own soldiers in the field war against IS.
As you may remember, Russia has first reacted to the West's policies by destabilizing Ukraine and used this crisis to expand the Russian influence towards Eastern Europe, Black Sea and Western Asia.
